Tanya was born in Barham and attended Barham Primary and High Schools. She completed a Bachelor of Arts in Canberra in the late 1970s and went on to work as a Personal Secretary / Bookkeeper for the national office of Housing Industry Association. I trained as a General Registered Nurse within a hospital setting; I completed my Midwifery qualification at the RNSH. Following my graduation, I travelled to England and Europe, where I worked in various hospitals.
Upon returning to Australia, I was employed at the Prince of Wales Hospital and shortly thereafter joined QANTAS as a flight hostess, allowing me to continue my passion for travel for many years. In the late 1980s, I rekindled my dedication to nursing and discovered my calling in Aged Care, a field that continues to captivate me today.
I continued my professional growth completing a Post Graduate degree in the 1990s and the attainment of a Master of Nursing in 2001. Remaining current in the ever-evolving Aged Care sector demands unwavering commitment to continuous learning, a commitment I proudly uphold.
With over three decades of experience in both clinical and management roles, I have actively contributed to consumer care and health, providing leadership and implementation perspectives. Mentoring others and sharing my wealth of knowledge have become integral aspects of my professional identity, ensuring that the Aged Care industry maintains its standards of excellence.
Beyond my career, the call of travel remains strong for both my husband, Jonathan, and me. Our deep appreciation for everything Australia offers is complemented by our roles as proud parents to four adult children and grandparents to three grandchildren.
